Routing the alstromaria

But they're so pretty!
Yanked out quite a lot yesterday, but you can see (below) that there is still more to go.  Nonetheless, the maple's trunk is emerging.
There's another clump of perennial to the left that might need thinning as well.  I can't remember what it is. Here's a closer shot (with roses behind):
What is it? Enquiring minds want to know:

useful comment from Mum: "Yes I know what it is but I can't tell you what it is, but there's a lot of it so you can thin it or pull out enough to move it back.. Take another pic when it blooms."

BTW, Mum, not new haircut, old pic.

I love how in almost every photo of Harriet she is on the march in 'patrol mode'... those other invading terrestrial beasts don't stand a chance, but the aerial raccoons are a different story. And I think "God save the Queen" is an excellent theme song for her, I advise you to sing it to her every morning.
Now we must come up with an excellent theme song for Ozzie's garden antics, any ideas?

I'm racking my brains to think of an Ozzie song--I think it needs to be an 80s New Wave song with electronic blips in it. Although, it could be the Sex Pistols' version of "God Save the Queen." Sort of the anti-Harriet?

Chris writes, concerning the mysterious perennial: "Is it phlox? It has big flower heads which are strongly scented. I have 4 kinds, and it' one of my favourite perennials (but it does spread)."

Chris, I think you are right. I was resisting calling it that because I know I have creeping phlox, which doesn't look anything like this tall, lush thing. But I looked it up: tall/lush = phlox paniculata and creeping = phlox subulata.

Oh, the power of the blog!

Ozzie as represented by a Sex Pistols song is something to consider! I was thinking more along the lines of 'The lion sleeps tonight' or Bowie's "Space Oddity"-- ground control to Major Oz.

Oh my the comments are fun!

I could go for "Space Oddity" as Ozzie's song--some very nice connections there indeed, including the idea of a space cadet.
BTW, nice garden. Good background for the cats.

Major Oz in a tin can works pretty well, but I thought of another candidate for Ozzie's ode: Led Zepplin's "Whole Lotta Love".

Does Harriet have something dead in her paws?

littleorangeguy, are you referring to the second photo? She does have that look about her, doesn't she? I don't recall any ensuing drama, but she might well have been pouncing on a bug in the woolly thyme.
